FIGURE AND FORM, VINTAGE NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THE 1920s - 1950s

Wynter Gallery is pleased to reveal Figure and Form, Vintage Nude Photography from the 1920s-1950s, a sensuous new photography retrospective on view from October 2nd to Dec 20th, 2026. Authentically vintage and sophisticatedly provocative, Figure and Form is the collection of Art Deco and pin-up era photography even time could not conceal - although it did try.

Nearly a century after its creation, stumbled upon by chance buried deep inside the walls of an old NYC Bleecker Street building, Figure and Form is an intentional collection of nude black and white photography hailing from the 1920s–1950s. Pristine and crisp in their imagery, tasteful, erotic and highly stylized in composition, these treasures are like a rare time capsule Wynter Gallery is so very excited to have opened up and now share with you.

Women unshackled by classic oppression. The roaring 20s. Industrial innovation. Sensuality, and playful states of undress. To view this collection is to witness confidence, elegance and time-period blend in with form, light, and emotion to create easy scenes of lasting beauty. In this 3-part exhibition, view relics of a bygone era posed with like timestamp and the fluidity of freedom as seen through the bodies of post World War I women. Cultural antiquity brought forward to the now. Organized into three distinct viewing dates: Pictorialism In The Buff opening on October 2nd, Narratives And The Nude in the Pin-Up Era opening November 13th, and then finally our invite-only salon of the more risque on December 5th, these photographs will draw your eye in toward more than just mere body, but to the intimacy of an old world history has forevermore veiled.

Peer into these snapshots and discover a hidden generation ready to usher in the new age. Progressive. Demure. Frozen in time. Gaze upon the contours of body & hear the shadows tell unspoken stories through hips, legs and spine. Lose yourself in geometric landscape and revel the bold ornamentations so polished - fashionable hallmarks of the era. Discover what time could not keep hidden.

Please join Wynter Gallery for the opening reception of the first part of this exhibition on October 2nd from 6-8pm at the gallery located at 4 S. Union St. in Lambertville, NJ.
