Wynter Gallery is honored to present Standing Still in a Constant State of Departure, a deeply personal and poetic exhibition by Landry Major and Cash Kasper. Born from the tragic loss of Major’s beloved son, Cash, who died on Christmas Day 2023, this intimate body of work honors their unique and unending bond, exploring a love that defies space and time.
Standing Still in a Constant State of Departure comes from a line Cash wrote in a notebook, found by Landry after his passing. The words capture a heavy truth of Cash being on the verge of leaving this life, but choosing to stand still and stay present for his parent.
Through this body of work, Landry and Cash show us a a love that ignores the rules of space and time - holding a divine connection between parent and child, lover and loved, and the spiritual bond that continues beyond the visible world. Through layered images merging landscape, figure and gesture, and oftentimes burnished with gold and silver leaf, Landry’s art moves past fierce grief and finds peace in the quiet knowing that their loves continues between realms. We invite you to experience this divine connection between parent and child, lover and loved, and the spiritual bond that continues beyond the visible world.
Landry Major is a Portland, Oregon-based fine art photographer whose work is rooted in awe for nature and the inner life of human beings. Her work can be found in both public and private collections around the world.
